When one thinks of Asian cuisine, the Shabu Shabu dish is never – or very rarely – the first thing that comes to mind. We want to change that, and make it the only thing you think of.

I have been quite fortunate to travel to many places around the world, and I would quite often end up eating at an Asian restaurant – admittedly, the first few times I was forced to eat there by my children, but that is definitely no longer the case.

This is my story of how I got to know this wonderful delicacy.
When I was traveling a few years back, I was directed to go eat a highly recommended restaurant, so I had to check it out. When I was seated at the table, getting ready to order my dinner as I flipped through the colourful pages of the restaurant‟s menu, something caught my eye. I saw a giant metal pot in the middle of a table where all the diners were dipping various meats and greens into an aromatic broth. I was hooked, and I had to try it.
In what seemed like seconds, the waitress came back with a big jug full of broth, and poured it in an empty pot and placed it on the hot plate in front of me.

I asked her how this dish was eaten, and off I went. Was my experience enjoyable? Yes! Was it exciting? Very! Was it delicious? Absolutely! Was it memorable? Definitely!

From that day, I had nothing but Shabu Shabu on my mind, and I decided that I should bring Shabu Shabu to the Middle East, starting here in Dubai. My search for Shabu Shabu ideas, techniques, styles and methods of cooking have not and will probably never stop. It‟s intricate details vary from one country to the next, but the
essentials are always the same.
What truly amazes me is how sociable this meal is, and how its designed to bring out the fun loving personality in every diner who enjoyed sharing delicious, simply prepared meals.
My hope is that I am able to bring the authentic taste and experience of the Far East right here to Dubai, with all the wonderful experiences and memories that come along with it!
